Because WritingMyOwnBook.com enables you to be your own publisher, it’s important to know what services are included. In addition to the membership packages offered here, I also work directly with clients.

Interview-based Book with Basic Website Package

  • Membership at the do-it-yourself level
  • You participate in enough interviews to develop a complete book.
  • Your book will be from 100 – 125 pages long, unless you choose a longer book.
  • You get a 100% completed KDP print-read book, with your name on the cover and your picture and biography on the back. This is your own book. You are the author. I only ask that my name appear on the copyright page, giving me credit as editor and designer.
  • You get a barebones, yet professional website for your book, which includes a home page and an author bio page. You can use this web site to promote your book, your products and services, or your current business. The site will be fully optimized and ready for search engines.
  • For an additional $300.00, your website will be customized to include a header based upon your cover and a look that complements the message of your book. (See LivingWatersBooks.com.) You’ll also be able to blog on this website, which is a function that isn’t built into the barebones site.

Cost?

$3,750.00

But I won’t continue offering this price much longer. Demand for my services is growing.

Not quite sure you want to make the commitment to such a large investment?

I can’t say I blame you. That’s one reason WritingMyOwnBook.com is also a membership site with options which allow you to take a ‘test run’ before committing to a full-service package.

You’ll also notice the drop-down menus give you more than one option.

I’ve discovered that not everyone wants to commit to a editing and coaching relationship with someone they’ve never met. Many of my clients dip their toes in the process first.

Would you like to discuss your project with me first?

I’d be happy to!

  1. Let’s discuss which type of book you want and where you are in the writing process if you’ve already started.
  2. I may recommend a manuscript review.
  3. I’ll send you on a research mission. I want you to be sure your book has market potential before you spend any money.

I want you to feel comfortable working with me. I want you to recognize the value of what I have to offer, and I want to be sure I can offer the value you deserve. Sometimes during this initial stage, I recognize that I’m not a good fit. I want to be honest about that.

If you choose “33% Deposit to Get Started,” here’s what you can expect.

Interview-based Book

  1. I’ll draft an initial set of rough questions based on our initial communication. Feel free to add any questions you think I have missed.
  2. You either answer the questions via email or a Word document, or we schedule an interview.
  3. I then finalize the outline/chapter order and send it for your approval.
  4. We will choose a marketing angle so your book is positioned for success from the very beginning.

Substantive Editing Contract

  1. I read your entire manuscript.
  2. I assist with structural reorganization, including grammar and information flow.
  3. I make specific recommendations for how to improve the book.
  4. I help you by giving you usable, tangible examples which you can use as patterns for improving your writing permanently.
  5. I identify missed opportunities which have the power to make your book great instead of mediocre.
  6. I present you with an improved outline, if one is needed.
  7. We will discuss your marketing angle so it becomes an integral part of the book’s appeal.

By the time I’ve done this, you should be feeling comfortable working with me. Only then will I ask for:

The next “33% deposit after interview and outline.”

Now, I will begin working on your book in earnest. If you choose the interview model, my transcriptionist will transcribe the recordings I make during the interviews. Then from there on out, you may be assured your book will have my personal attention.

I usually give my clients an opportunity to see how things are going after the first chapter is completed. This allows you to affirm that I am retaining your unique voice. My goal is to ensure your CreateSpace book sounds like you wrote it.

Time to Start Building an SEO optimized website.

Also, at the 50% completion stage, we will finalize the book’s title. It will play a key role in setting up your marketing package, which includes your marketing website, a peek at an extract from your CreateSpace book, and your author bio.

Amazon does a great job of marketing for you, yet it would be foolish to overlook the value of your own SEO optimized website. You need to promote your book yourself as well. With the package I’ve put together, you get a real head start on marketing your book on the internet.

I’ll build your site on WordPress for four reasons. 1) It’s an easy platform to work with. 2) It’s so easy to start blogging about your book. Every blog can be reposted to social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook. 3) With a new theme, it’s easy to expand your site to meet changing needs. 4) You can change the look of your site almost instantly. 5) Plug-ins allow you to do almost anything you can dream of—like add a multi-media social bar, shopping carts, SEO optimization, contact forms, membership, etc.

The Final Deposit

I ask for the final deposit when I have the book ready. As soon as I receive the deposit, I send your book to an independent proof reader to ensure that my familiarity with the book hasn’t blinded me to spelling and grammar errors in it.

After this proof, I deliver your 1st draft. This will be as near perfect as possible, yet I always give my clients a chance to tweak the contents of their book. You may catch errors that both the proof-reader and I overlooked. I expect you to think of things you’d like to add and to find things you’d like to remove. It’s all part of collaborating to make sure your KDP book creates the impression you want to make.

After we’ve agreed that everything is right, I’ll upload the KDP PDF and submit all the information for your book for you unless you prefer to do this yourself.

When you receive your proof copy, you still have another chance to make changes. I’m not through until things are publication ready.
